for 3 Brass Choirs
Scored for six trumpets in Bb and six trombones in three choirs.
In Medieval times London's streets owed their care to The Worshipful Comany of Paviors: a livery company dating back as far as 1276. Today its aim is to support various charities including those associated with the City and "the art of paving".
Pavior's Fanfare is dedicated to John Cruse, The Master of the Company in the year 2000, and based on the letters of his surname. This is an antiphonal piece written for 3 choirs of 2 tpts and 2 tbns and would therefore complement several of the Gabrieli pieces written for the same line-up. It was first performed in The Mansion House at The Lord Mayor's Banquet of 2000 by The Symphonic Brass of London, and also recorded by the brass ensemble of the RAF Central Band.
